Today we can implement absolutely any product idea in China. We don't need to build a factory here for this. We can create products that we can sell all over the world and bring money back home.

“A family business is a synergy where a woman becomes an assistant and partner for a man. Often a businessman does not have assistants or assistants who can be 100% trusted. In this regard, a family business is very valuable,” this is how Dmitry Kovpak describes the common business with his wife Ekaterina. He is an entrepreneur, traveler, speaker at major business forums, business coach and author of many educational projects. She is the one who inspires him and brings something new and fresh to his business. Dmitry and Ekaterina follow the same path, but each has found their own niche and peculiarities of doing business. Read more about this in an interview with People IN with the Kovpak family.

Dmitry, please tell us about the features of running your business? What is its idea and essence?

– My wife and I have several directions. We launched the No. 1 online school for business with China, and regularly organize group trips to China to find new products. We are always the first to introduce a trendy product to the market, we are the first to talk about it. Against this background, we have already created a company that consists of a sales department, strategy, marketing and others. The latter, by the way, is led by my partner Taras Levchik. This is a person who has become an example for others, all people who work in the field of marketing look up to him. He is No. 1 in Internet advertising. He comes up with ideas, and everyone else repeats him. Our company also deals with investments. That is, we have many areas that our family is involved in. Ekaterina, for example, is the company’s financial director. I am responsible for all the work with partners, investment activities and online school. Each of my new courses is a new product because I change, grow, see new things on the market. We are the first to experiment with what others are only talking about. For example, messengers. They started talking about them only a year ago, but we have been actively using it for a long time. We pour money into them, test them, see mistakes.

Ekaterina, tell us more about your role in the family business? What is it like to do business like a woman?

– My experience shows that men and women have different approaches to business. For men, this means leaving home in the morning and returning in the evening with booty. And for women, the main thing is to remain a woman. She must spread her wings and develop her husband's potential and then earn money. It turns out that business for a woman is a hobby. In my direction I took as a basis whatwhat my husband does and teaches, but she made the program more light and feminine. I teach women how to earn money and combine it with family. We took all the successful steps that men use to build a business, took our experience and wrote a diagram for women that is easier to understand. In the process of work, I noticed that women do not always come with the goal of building a business; it is more important for them to believe that they can do it. And they do it if they want.

“SHE SHOULD SPREAD HER WINGS AND DEVELOP HER HUSBAND’S POTENTIAL AND THEN MAKE MONEY”

Dmitry, how do you feel about your wife’s success? Aren't you afraid of competition?

“I’ll be the first to rejoice at this.” I will have to work less (laughs). An intelligent woman will never take on the role of a man - she will always remain a woman. She must understand that she is behind the man. There is an interesting story about a past President of America... One evening, President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to go out for an unplanned dinner at a restaurant. Once they were seated, the restaurant owner asked Obama's security guard to address the first lady privately. They had a conversation, after which Obama asked Michelle: “Why was he so interested in communicating with you?” She replied that during her teenage years he was madly in love with her. President Obama said, “So if you had married him, you could now be the wife of the owner of this fine restaurant?” To which Michelle replied: “No, I would be the wife of the President of America.” This is important because women now have a great influence on men and their results in life. I have several successful single friends. One of them leads an educational project, the other deals with the topic of cryptocurrencies. They want to see in their chosen one intelligence and the ability to speak the same language with them. Therefore, I see a real need for women to gain knowledge in business. This will give them the opportunity to become a support for men, because often a businessman does not have assistants who can be trusted 100%. In this regard, a family business is very valuable; it strengthens relationships and creates a lot of topics for conversation. The main thing is not to transfer business problems into the family. We can achieve synergy in relationships. Every six months we go to China. Asia is quite a wild environment for us, a different time, food, culture. Various entrepreneurs from different countries, with different experiences, come with us. Previously, only I solved many problems with them. Today Katya partially replaces me. She concludes contracts herself, finalizes the product, concludes a supply agreement herself, and knows all my partners. Basically, I started delegating some of the work to her, and she's doing a good job of it. We managed not only to become a family, but also to share our responsibilities in business, while trusting each other. I'm not trying to influence or control her.

We men can achieve synergy when a woman becomes our assistant, partner and, at the same time, develops her own separate project.

“KATYA SEEES MONEY IN THOSE PRODUCTS THAT I DON’T SEE”

Does women's intuition help in business?

– Women look at things differently: Katya

chooses completely different products. He sees money in products that I don’t see. But women still manage to sell, in my opinion, unsellable goods. One example is a hot tub for dogs. I can't imagine a person who could believe in this direction and try it. Katya did it.

Tell us about the prospects for cooperation with China? Why this particular direction? What trends have you tracked?

– Chinese trends are temporary, which last from 3 to 6 months, as well as technological. Temporary trends are often created by emotions. For example, a year ago it was spinners. The Americans figured out how to create an emotion that captured the whole world. Many of my students have made a lot of money from them. One of them built a factory and is still selling. Today, such temporary trends can be any product, and which ones depend on opinion leaders. They quickly go away because large entrepreneurs import them in large quantities, which greatly “drops” prices. Most often these trends come from the West. Technology trends are everything related to new technological solutions. For example, electric vehicles, various gadgets. The topic of GPS trackers for families has been developing for 3 years now. In Ukraine, the topic of animal trackers is developing very slowly, but I would even say that it is completely ignored. Although losing an animal is stressful. We must not forget that China, as a manufacturer of many technological things, will always be the world's factory. It is also worth remembering that we continue to buy diapers. And no matter what technologies there are, we will still buy goods for children. And quality products that are made in China are one of the simplest businesses. You can buy a simple and cheap solution in China and sell it here, where people are willing to pay for it.

What should aspiring entrepreneurs pay attention to today? What to focus on and where to start?

– I recommend everyone to follow such an Internet portal as Kickstarter. This is an American service that could be the product catalog of the future. It helps people raise money for specific causes. I recently met a person who received more than $2.5 million in investment in a product on this resource in 2 years. And China in this case is the production base. Today we can manufacture any idea and product in China. We don't need to build a factory for this. We can create ideas that we will sell to the whole world, and bring the money back home. Young entrepreneurs need to think big. Ukraine has already proven that there are people here who create billion-dollar projects. Many people are deeply mistaken in believing that start-up capital is one of the main components of starting a business in a certain direction. Now we can count on sales and be confident in the product before we even create it. You just need to pay attention to China and understand that the price is affected by packaging and how we sell this product.

To the point

“If you’re not already doing business online, what are you doing?” — Dmitry Kovpak

Niche: business training
Income: $50,000/month.

As a child, the most popular question among adults was: what do you want to become? But how could I answer it if I didn’t try anything. I was a child, and my activities were football, searching for adventures and falling to the ground with different parts of my body. So, in order not to listen to moralizing, I answered - I will be an astronaut, and everyone patted me on the shoulder, and then after perestroika I became a banker and they also patted me on the shoulder.

I studied well until 3rd grade. Then it didn't matter anymore. School is a standard program of behavior that can be observed in the institute and in the corporate culture of companies. You need to find a way to do the minimum so that you don't get kicked out.

Yes, I have a higher legal education. And I stopped understanding its necessity in my 2nd year, earning more than my teachers. Because from the age of 14 my parents already involved me in all sorts of work.

I started entrepreneurship on my own in my 2nd year, opening a retail store. It cost me $3,000, which I spent on rent and storefronts. The goods were taken for sale from those suppliers who agreed. Now I understand that it was quite risky, since there was nothing to pay the next month’s rent, all that was left was to earn money for it.

But I was not happy with the business I was doing. There was no inspiration or energy.

Therefore, on New Year’s Day, returning from one of my ski trips, I decided that everything needed to be changed.
It was then, immediately upon arrival, that I was offered to learn how to do business on the Internet. I thought that the world knew best how to answer my questions and just trusted. Now I sell my knowledge on the Internet.

The fact is that there is no question about whether to come to Internet entrepreneurship or not. If you're not doing business online yet, what are you doing? A couple more years and a lot will change. For example, every person will have a 3D printer at home on which they can print any goods, even food. This will be a completely different world. So I clearly understood that developing a business on the Internet is a pleasant inevitability.

During coaching, I grew significantly professionally. I managed to create two products and set up effective sales schemes. I also participated in an online marathon with a speech about Business in China. As a result, in a month of work I already had 6 course sales and 3 paid consultations.

I began. Everything went well, I earned some $900 in the first weeks of coaching. But this was not what is called “success”. Everything seemed very small to me. I didn’t fully understand what I was doing, what was happening, I didn’t see any specific money. I still didn’t get the hang of it until the end. I already had thoughts of quitting this whole business and continuing to engage in a classic business, which always brings me a stable income.

But I’m one of those people who will do it seven times and then think. I believe that entrepreneurship is about trying. You just have to always try differently. I decided that I needed to start again. Start over again. And I started coaching. I thoughtlessly bought mailings. Spent $5,000 on mailings. I performed a lot. He spoke at affiliate programs and did free webinars. I gave a lot, I invested a lot.

Only 11 people came to the first coaching. It would seem not enough. But for me then it was not the number of people or the amount of money earned that was important. The following is important: out of these 11 people, 7 showed real results after my training program. The rest a little later, but also started.

I recorded interviews with all the participants, received good feedback - a new charge of energy. And while I was still leading the first group, I had already begun to launch the second coaching. Already 64 people came to the next coaching session. This is, of course, a completely different level, different money.

At first my income increased to $20,000, and the next month I reached $50,000.

I have developed a certain amount of patience. Without patience, unfortunately, it is difficult to achieve any results in information entrepreneurship. You want to jump above your head, you jump and jump, but you can’t... Because your legs are not pumped up. And you try to pump up your legs in a day. That’s why I never stop and work every day, every day I “pump up.”
